Reflections from Egypt: Zeinab Amer

Sharjah Museums Authority presents the exhibition ‘Reflections from Egypt’ which was hosted by the Sharjah Art Museum. This exhibition came in the context of monitoring the Arab artistic accomplishments throughout its different historical stages, diverse artistic trends and varied expressionistic methods, which reflect the richness and creativity in the Arab world.

‘Reflections form Egypt’ presents the works of the Egyptian artist Zeinab Amer. Her works clearly reflect the spirit of the Egyptian environment with its countryside and cities, land and sea, through a combination of rich colours, which embody its peculiarity and approach the essence of the life we live. The artist’s paintings are full of the life that inspired her visual and expressive vocabulary, as she re-creates all that she sees in a fleeting moment, using only her brushes in an attempt to immobilize those moments and give them a beautiful and enduring form. From the bustle of surrounding objects and people’s indulgence in their lives, details and reflections, the artist Zeinab Amer composes her visual material, and formulates her aesthetic and emotional project.

Perhaps the importance of this exhibition comes exactly from this point, Zeinab Amer did not diverge for a moment from what surrounds her. She was always trying to probe the place and its essence using techniques that seem closer to recoding what lies beyond the scene, and deepens the being’s existence within the details she experience and the places that embrace her.

Therefore, Sharjah Museums Authority invites you to wander through a panorama of the human and the place, and to contemplate this rich and diverse collection which confirms our commitment to providing quality exhibitions that contribute to deepening and complementing the contemporary art scene.
